NDMA’s NIDM team, on 10^th May 2024, held a meeting with Prof. Dr. Shabir Ahmed Lehri, Vice Chancellor of Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences (BUMHS) at the university campus in Quetta. NIDM’s research, national-international academic connectivity, and capacity-building-related initiatives were shared with the Vice Chancellor who appreciated the vision of Chairman NDMA regarding academic engagement for disaster resilience in Pakistan. The vice chancellor offered his thorough support for health-related academic facilitation as well as establishing a volunteer group of medical students and practitioners across Balochistan. 

Dr. Shabir Lehri shared with the NIDM team that BUMHS will be offering a 2x year degree Programme in Disaster Management for medical graduates soon. NIDM offered its technical support to the university in developing the curriculum for above mentioned degree course in light of HEC guidelines. The NIDM team invited the VC BUMHS to visit the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) at NDMA HQ and he graciously accepted. NIDM and BUHMS are set to sign a formal Letter of Understating (LoU) that will lay down the foundations for the long-term relationship between the two entities.
