NIDM research and training team, on 7^th May 2024, held a meeting with Prof Dr. Khalid Hafeez, Vice Chancellor of Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering & Management Sciences (BUITEMS) to discuss academic input from the universities of Balochistan in generating research-based predictions, develop innovative solutions while learning from global best practices and indigenous knowledge to give disaster management agencies a lead aimed at saving lives and reducing the risk of disasters. 

VC BUITEMS agreed to establish the “DRR Club” run by university students under the Youth Development Centre. Dr. Khalid shared his plan to introduce a 3x credit hours course on disaster management, compulsory for each student of the university, for which he requested NIDM to assist in developing the curriculum.
