Monsoon Coordination Conference Held at NEOC, NDMA Headquarters

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) convened a Monsoon Coordination Conference at the National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC), NDMA Headquarters, Islamabad, bringing together representatives from relevant federal ministries, provincial disaster management authorities, technical departments, and key stakeholders to review preparedness measures for the ongoing monsoon season.

The conference focused on assessing the prevailing weather outlook, potential flood risks, and preparedness measures to ensure a coordinated national response to anticipated monsoon-related hazards. Participants reviewed contingency plans, inter-agency coordination mechanisms, and resource readiness to minimize the impact of heavy rainfall, urban flooding, flash floods, and landslides.

Chairman NDMA, Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, HI (M), underscored the importance of proactive planning, timely dissemination of early warnings, and effective coordination among federal ministries, provincial disaster management authorities, district administrations, rescue services, humanitarian partners, and other stakeholders. He stressed the need for enhanced preparedness, rapid information sharing, and efficient resource mobilization to safeguard vulnerable communities during the monsoon season.

The participants were briefed on NDMA's integrated coordination framework, including weather forecasting, flood monitoring, risk communication, anticipatory actions, and emergency response planning.

The conference concluded with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to maintain close coordination, strengthen institutional collaboration, and ensure a unified national response throughout the monsoon season to protect lives, livelihoods, and critical infrastructure.
