NDMA, in collaboration with Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC) conducted a comprehensive awareness and capacity-building session at Sona Public School & College, Mirpur Mathelo (Sindh). Community volunteers, college staff and senior students were oriented on climate-induced disasters, the evolving impacts of climate change in Sindh, and practical mitigation, community-level DRR, and response measures.
The session emphasized risk-informed preparedness and the role of youth as resilience ambassadors within their communities. Participants were also sensitized to industrial hazard risk mitigation, reflecting the importance of integrated disaster risk management in industrial zones. Group learning, physical mock drills, visual content and other interactive mediums were used for better understanding.
The activity brought together community representatives, district administration, and local NGOs, reinforcing a multi-stakeholder approach to resilience building.
Students and community volunteers received hands-on training in, Basic Life Support (BLS), Fire Safety & Emergency Response and Response Coordination Mechanisms. Experts from NDMA, FFC-MM HSEQ Team and Rescue 1122 Ghotki facilitated the learning.
The initiative reflects NDMA’s commitment to strengthening preparedness, enhancing public awareness, and promoting public–private partnerships for a safer and climate-resilient Pakistan.
