The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) convened the first session on Water Scarcity and Food Security in Pakistan at its headquarters today. The brainstorming session brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from relevant ministries, departments, and organizations, to deliberate on the pressing challenges of water scarcity and food security facing the nation.
The session aimed to lay the groundwork for a comprehensive recommendations-based study to tackle these critical issues. The meeting was graced by the presence of Chairman WAPDA, who provided valuable insights into the water management strategies and initiatives being undertaken in Pakistan.
Chairman NDMA also briefed participants on the Authority’s ongoing efforts to address the interconnected challenges of water scarcity and food security. He highlighted the NDMA’s initiatives in disaster risk reduction, climate adaptation, and early warning systems, which are instrumental in ensuring sustainable resource management and food resilience.
