National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)’s research branch, National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) held one-day workshop on local needs gap analysis  National Disaster Preparedness & Response at UET Peshawar on 11th Sep 2023. 

VC UET Peshawar Professor Dr. Iftikhar Hussain  & Rector GIK  Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid & DG PDMA Mr.Jannat Gul inaugurated the first session.

The workshop aimed at identifying gaps in disaster management and chalk out caliberated preparedness regime according to Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction in Pakistan. 

The event commenced with an inaugural session featuring welcoming remarks by NDMA, opening remarks by VC UET, Peshawar, and remarks by DG PDMA, KP. A key note address by NDMA highlighted the transformation towards a proactive approach. The thematic plenary sessions delved into local needs, gaps in preparedness, and the role of academia. The workshop fostered valuable collaborations for research, emphasizing local wisdom and community engagement. The event concluded with a closing session and marking a significant step towards enhancing disaster preparedness in KP province
