National Disaster Management Authority Pakistan (NDMA) and the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat Pakistan (AKAHP) have signed a Letter of Understanding to enhance knowledge sharing and capacity building for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) initiatives. The agreement was signed during a ceremony held at the National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) at NDMA HQ in Islamabad. Chairman NDMA Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik and CEO AKAH Pakistan, Nusrat Nasab attended the signing ceremony.
 
This Letter of Understanding formalizes a commitment to exchange information and data for Electronic Multi-Hazard Vulnerability and Risk Assessment (eMHVRA), collaborate on joint disaster risk management projects, advocate for DRR and climate change, develop habitat policies and strategies, and enhance the capacities of relevant departments through workshops and training. This partnership aims to improve collaboration, pool resources, and build resilient communities.
Chairman NDMA, Lt General HI (M) Inam Haider Malik, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in disaster management. He underscored the importance humanitarian agencies in facilitating the exchange of risk information and knowledge to create resilient communities and promote sustainable development in Pakistan.
 
NDMA and AKAH have been close partners in DRM and DRR for over two decades. In collaboration, AKAHP and NDMA have developed National School Safety Framework and built the capacity of line departments for its implementation. This renewed partnership will leverage the latest information and tools to produce data that will ultimately help Pakistan build resilient communities.
