NDMA hosted a significant session on Pakistan Monsoon Proactive Preparedness & Humanitarian Response Coordination Forum today at NDMA HQs. Chairman NDMA Lt General HI(M) Inam Haider Malik presided over the session. Representatives from UN agencies, leading humanitarian organizations and development partners participated in a session to enhance preparedness and coordination for Monsoon 2024.
Pakistan Monsoon Proactive Preparedness and Humanitarian Response Coordination Forum aimed to ensure a unified and effective response to potential monsoon-related disasters. Humanitarian organizations briefed the forum on their capacity readiness for Monsoon 2024, detailing of stockpiles including rescue capabilities, relief items, emergency preparedness measures, community engagement initiatives through local trainings and awareness campaigns and rehabilitation plans.
Chairman NDMA underscored the importance of Anticipatory Actions to disaster management and said that this forum is a vital step in ensuring a coordinated response to monsoon-related challenges. He appreciated the active participation of humanitarian organizations and development partners in this effort. He urged to avoid duplication of relief operations and resource mapping. He called for collective efforts on resilient infrastructure with indigenous material in highly vulnerable areas.
The forum fostered a collaborative environment, enabling participants to share expertise, resources, and best practices. This collective approach will enhance the effectiveness of monsoon response efforts, mitigating the impact of potential disasters on vulnerable communities.
