The dialogue was organized by NDMA with the support of UN Women, UNICEF Pakistan, Catholic Relief Services, Islamic Relief, HANDS, and Welthungerhilfe (WHH). Actions and consultations were to take place for women's participation in the framework of disaster risk reduction and capacity building. Chairman NDMA Lt. Gen. Inam Haider Malik and Prime Minister's Coordinator Ramina Khurshid Alam participated in the one-day dialogue as special guests.

In his address, Chairman NDMA emphasized the importance of proactive response in disaster management.  He stressed the need for proactive measures to tackle climate challenges.  The Chairman said that natural calamities and other challenges affect women and girls.  However, women's and girls' capacity building and presence in disaster risk reduction frameworks can largely address the potential risks of natural disasters. He also emphasized that the purpose of this platform is to identify global best practices and develop sustainable strategies. Chairman NDMA emphasized the important contribution of women and girls in dealing with natural disasters, solving the problems they face under a common strategy and interpreting Pakistan's gender-responsive policies for natural disaster management.

The meeting was well attended by all important supporting government agencies, welfare organizations, representatives of civil society, and women representatives of disaster-prone communities. The chief guest of the meeting, Romina Khurshid, Prime Minister's Coordinator for Climate Change, while expressing to the participants of the meeting, said that women should be empowered to play an effective role in the society to deal with disasters. During the meeting, best practices were identified to facilitate information sharing and necessary actions in the field of disaster management, and actionable recommendations were developed for gender-sensitive policies.
